Is The Great Indian Kapil Show is struggling to get good views?
How the performance of the Great Indian Kapil Show after it surfaced on the OTT platform?
Kapil's comedy show has been part of every home as his show received immense love from the audience in past few years. But after the last session on Sony television, The Great Indian Kapil Show was marked as an OTT release instead of television. The show has a new platform - Netflix. The promo was on for many months and there was a collaboration of long-awaited reunion of actor Sunil Grover. Despite all preparations when the show surfaced on Netflix, the response was not as much as it was expected. After four episodes surfaced, the views count was less as it was expected and it was over the Television.
It was reported that approximately sixty percent of the cost is incurred by the production as compared to what it was when telecasted on TV. The show format was same, only a slight change in the set was made. Kapil fees, other actor fees, talent fees, guest appearances and other charges amounted to approx hundred crores. Despite a good comeback, it was noted that view count was less. Some of the experts even expressed their views about the comparison of TV and OTT platform. It is not fair to compare the two as they have different audiences.
However, Netflix has come with different opinions and has stated that The Great Indian Kapil Show is the first Indian series that is trending globally. After its release, it got more than 9mn views in eight weeks. It is trending in fourteen countries including Australia, Canada, Maldives and New Zealand.
The debut episode which included actor Ranbir and his mother Neetu Kapoor got more than two million viewership and later in the second week, it stood at Four million. This was not the first time when Kapil collaborated with Netflix; his debut show was a stand-up special Kapil Sharma: I am not done yet.
