The On-screen Illicit Romance between the Veteran Actress Tabu and Lover Boy Ishaan: A Suitable Boy!

An explicit adaptation from Vikram Seth’s novel released in the year 1993 gives a vivid description of the post-independence scenario of India. Mira Nair’s six-part series shows the story of the young girl Lata and her family’s desperate attempts to get her married. Meanwhile, the love story between Saaeda Bai (Tabu) and Maan Kapoor (Ishaan Khatter) unfurls in the form of a love story that is not considered to be requisite by society. 

Romance stirring Customary Norms!

The much-awaited trailer of “A Suitable Boy” – the series by Mira Nair has been finally released on various social media platforms and is stirring up hushed murmurs. Set in the newly independent Indian era, the story revolves around the lives of four different families in which Mahira Kakkar playing the role of Rupa Mehra, is in search of a suitable boy for her daughter Lata (Tanya Maniktala). 

In the trailer, the audience can peek-a-boo of the forbidden romance between Tabu as Saaeda Bai (the courtesan) and Ishaan Khatter as Maan Kapoor. The love story is frowned upon specifically by Maan’s father –Mahesh, played by the iconic Ram Kapoor.

The trailer itself is whipping out the societal customs as Saaeda Bai, and Maan Kapoor turns indifferent to the opinions of the society and is blindsided by love. When the Lover Boy –Ishaan Khatter was asked about his experience in playing a lead role in such a controversial love story against one of the novice actresses –Tabu, he says that half of his job is done because he had to play a role against Tabu who acts with such finesse and perfection. 

Ishan further added that he has had a tremendous experience in playing the role of a besotted lover in the movie “Dhadak.” And his encounter is even more enhanced because of the mesmerizing persona of Tabu. Ishaan says that he is extremely excited to see the reaction of the audience when Saaeda Bai is introduced!
