The upcoming film Kalki 2898-A.D is an Indian epic science fiction film which was announced earlier as “Project K”. The film is mythology-inspired. The film has well known and talented star cast which include Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Pasupathy. The film is produced C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, while it is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. The budget of the film is expected to be about Rs. 600 Crore and it is said that this film is going to be the most expensive film made in Indian Film history.
The film was expected to be rolled down in the year 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film production got delayed. The shooting of film started in July 2021 in a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City, in Hyderabad. The shooting of film was done in different languages such as Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. The film has a huge star cast. The makers have said that the role of Deepika Padukone opposite Prabhas is very strong. She is "beyond thrilled" and the audience has never seen her before playing such a character in the film. It would be surprising for her fans. Prabhas will be playing the modern-day embodiment of Lord Vishnu, as per the reports. It is supposed that the film will relate much with Star Wars and Dune.
The trailer of the film was first launched at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). At the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con event, many cast and crew were present such as Nag Ashwin, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and C. Aswani Dutt. It is reported that the film was scheduled to release in January 2024 but the same has been postponed to May 2024. The film will be releasing in different languages like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English.
