Bad Newz Movie Review:

Anand Tiwari's "Bad Newz," which debuted on July 19, 2024, featured an impressive cast that included Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri, and Ammy Virk. Despite the high hopes following the success of "Good Newwz," this comedy-drama struggles to find its footing.

Plot Overview

The film explores the rare phenomenon of heteropaternal superfecundation, where a woman gives birth to twins fathered by two different men. Akhil Chadha (Vicky Kaushal) is a lively Punjabi man married to Saloni (Tripti Dimri), an ambitious chef. Their relationship faces challenges due to their differing values, and things get even more complicated when Gurbir (Ammy Virk) enters Saloni's life, leading to a unique love triangle and an unexpected pregnancy involving both men. The storyline, intended to be both comedic and emotional, falls short of delivering a cohesive narrative.

Strengths

Vicky Kaushal's performance is undoubtedly the highlight of the film. He brings charm and authenticity to his character, managing to evoke genuine laughs and moments of empathy. The chemistry between Kaushal and Dimri is also notable, providing a few delightful interactions that stand out amidst the film's flaws.

The screenplay is where "Bad Newz" stumbles. The humor often feels forced and the satire falls flat. The script lacks the wit and depth needed to make the characters' predicaments believable and engaging. Additionally, the background music, rather than enhancing the scenes, feels mismatched and distracting, further diminishing the film's impact.

"Bad Newz" had the potential to be a hit, given its intriguing premise and talented cast. However, the execution leaves much to be desired. While Vicky Kaushal's performance provides a few bright spots, the film fails to deliver a memorable experience. Fans of "Good Newwz" might find themselves disappointed by this sequel.
