Introduction
Anupam Kher is an Indian actor belonging to a Kashmiri Pandit Hindu family based in Shimla. The spectacular personality known by everyone has received many awards for his marvellous acting and work in Indian cinema. Along with working in Hindi movies, Anupam Kher has also been a part of many international films. Besides being a great actor, he can make anyone laugh with his timing and screen presence. He had also been awarded of being the “Best Comedian Award” by Filmfare for the movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”. Anupam Kher was also the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification in India from 16th October 2003 through 13th October 2004.
Early Life
Actor Anupam Kher had a very modest upbringing as his father was a clerk. His education took place in Shimla itself. He got his first assignment at a young age in the year 1974. Aagaman was the debut movie of Anupam Kher in the year 1982 and since then his varied roles and outstanding performance have been appreciated throughout the country. Good things never come easy and so has been the case with him as he had to sleep on the railway platforms in Mumbai while struggling for career opportunities in acting. An alumnus and a former chairperson of the National School of Drama, Anupam Kher is an influential personality who has also been a part of some reality shows that have also proved to be great hits.
Acting career
Anupam Kher played a role of a middle-class retired man who loses his son in the movie Saaransh. Along with playing the emotional role of being a father, he played a variety of roles like being a terrorist in the movie “Karma”, and a beautiful comedian in “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”. Movies like “A Wednesday” can never be forgotten as every time one sees this wonderful movie on the screen, it leaves everyone wondering about the deliberate and wonderful efforts that made this epic movie a success. There are approximately 500 movies that Anupam Kher has shown his presence in or has contributed to being a part of the film. However, as an actor, he had done more than 100 movies. The ease and efforts that one sees while Kher portrays his character is something authentic to this legend and cannot be seen anywhere else. Movies like “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin”, and “Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai”, have been a great successes because of the minimal yet spectacular performance and efforts put by Anupam Kher to make everyone laugh. The success of these movies owes a lot to this great personality. He was also awarded Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for his role in Daddy (1989). Not even in India, Anupam Kher has also shown his charm internationally and played in movies like “Bend It Like Beckham”, “Bride and Prejudice”, and “Speedy Singhs”.
