Lea Thompson says, “Tom Cruise was incredibly sweet to her”
Lea recalled that Tom held her back when she objected nudity scene in ‘All the Right Moves’
Lea Thompson recently shared a memorable fragment with Closer Weekly. She recalled the time when Mission: Impossible hero Tom Cruise stood up for her during shooting of ‘All the Right Moves’. Talking about how ‘generous’ Tom had been to her, she said “Tom Cruise was incredibly sweet to her and she has not forgotten it since”. Thompson starred opposite Tom Cruise in the ‘All the Right Moves’. The movie was released in October 1983. In the movie Cruise played a high school football player hoping to earn a scholarship so he can go to college and get out of a small Pennsylvania steel town. While Lea Thompson played Cruise’s girl friend who worries she may lose him if he leaves town.
“Cruise had her back on set when I expressed being uncomfortable with performing nude scenes”, as revealed by the actress in a recent interview. Lea expressed when she had been called in for the role she was not informed about exposing her breasts for the part. The producers of the movie wanted her to show her breasts twice in the script, but Thompson was not ready for this. She said. “I didn’t even audition because I didn’t want to take my shirt off, but I got the part and was like, ‘Okay.’” Tom Cruise took whole matter into his own hands when he heard Lea Thompson didn’t want to be nude multiple times in the film, and spoke to the producers himself. He boldly told the producers they could forget about the nudity.
“Tom managed to talk them out of one of the [nude] scenes,” Thompson said. “In the second, he said, ‘Well, if she has to be naked, I’ll be naked, too.’” Tom came out to be a real hero because he not only talks on her behalf, but he also ensured she is comfortable with him for the role. Leo also added, “That’s pretty badass! I’ve always been grateful to him for standing up to the producers.”
According to latest reports Tom Cruise stars in “Mission: Impossible -Fallout” (opens July 27) while Lea Thompson directs and stars in “The Year of Spectacular Men” (now playing).
