Alka Yagnik is a veteran Indian playback singer. Listening to her voice is really a healing therapy. She has a huge fan following and people love to hear her songs. Recently the singer has shared some shocking news with her fans. She revealed that she is suffering from rare sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). She took her social media account to share this news. She mentioned that a few weeks before when she was walking out of flight; she was not able to hear anything. People have been asking why she is not been in action, so she thought to make people aware that she has been diagnosed with a rare sensory neural nerve hearing loss, due to a viral attack. She urged fans, friends and followers to pray for her.   

Alka has been one of the most versatile playback singers in the Indian Film Industry. She was one of the first choices for film-makers when it came to playback female singers in the 1990s. For her outstanding performance, she has received two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards. She also holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2022 for the most-streamed artist in the world.  

The singer has also shared about this hearing disorder in her post and warned people to reduce the usage of headphones. She highlighted about the harmful effects of listening to loud music and continuously doing that. Various ENT specialists have talked about this hearing disorder after Alka Yagnik's case. SNHL is a category of hearing loss which is caused due to damage caused to the inner ear or the nerve endings in the inner ear. It can also be caused due to damage in the nerve that is responsible for carrying the signals to the brain. There are many treatments for this hearing loss disorder such as steroids combined with anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelets and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
