Bollywood celebs like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan who entertain us with their superb performances, are one of the most active personalities. They are most active users of social media platforms like Twitter as well. With a lot of follower’s desperately following, superstars always share their story on social media. But let's be honest, no one likes losing followers on social media. When it comes at a cost of losing the top spot of the most followed actor in India, no one really wants this to happen. But with Twitter’s recent decision industry ended up with reduced followers.
Twitter decided to remove inactive and locked accounts. Twitter’s new microblogging clean-up campaign had taken down all fake and inactive accounts in order to curb trolling and cyberbullying. The locked accounts are different from spam one. These are in most cases, were created by real people only. As a result, celebs are experiencing a more significant loss in numbers. While there could be several reasons behind losing followers on Twitter, but it is hard to know the root cause. The reasons may include:
- Account being inactive.
- Tweet simply sucks.
- Twitter doing a clean-up of your fake followers.
SocialBlade.com that tracks the number of Twitter followers on a daily basis, had a tab on the count. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s followers dropped by over 424,000, Shah Rukh Khan's followers declined by over 362,141 while Salman Khan experienced a loss of 340,884 followers. Big B tweeted more dramatically on losing his followers he calls this a joke. He said, "T 2599 - TWITTER ...!!! you reduced my number of followers!!?? HAHAHAHAHA .... time to get off from you.. thank you for the ride.... there are many 'other' fish in the sea - and a lot more exciting."
Among other film celebrities who lost their followers as a result of the 'sanitisation' of the micro-blogging platform include B-towners like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, and celebrities like Divya Dutta, Apurva Ansari, Onir reacted on losing followers. Not only the Bollywood celebs but even Prime Minister Narendra Modi have lost nearly three lakh Twitter followers in just one day after the microblogging site began to clean up its platform from fake users.
