Introduction
Aishwarya Rai is a famous Indian actress and Miss World in 1994. She is one of the most beautiful and influential actresses in the Bollywood film Industry. After winning the crown, she started her acting career and was recognized for her work. She received two Filmfare awards and received Padma Shri in the year 2009 for her outstanding work in the film industry. She was also honored with Ordre des Arts et des Lettres award by the government of France in the year 2012. Some of her best films are Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Mohabbatein, Dhoom 2, and Jodhaa Akbar. Aishwarya Rai also did Tamil films and her role in Kandukondain Kandukondain was highly appreciated. She married actor Abhishek Bachchan in the year 2017 and has a daughter. She was also the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film festival.
Early Life
Aishwarya Rai was born in Mangalore, Karnataka. Her father Krishnaraj was an Army biologist and her mother Vrinda is a housewife. Her elder brother Aditya Rai is an engineer in the merchant navy. She joined Arya Vidya Mandir High School initially and completed her intermediate schooling at Jai Hind College and then joined DG Ruparel College. She is also a trained classical dancer. She initially desired to be an architect but later on pursued modeling. She did many modeling jobs while she was in college.
Acting career
At the beginning of her modeling and acting career, Aishwarya Rai got her first recognition from Pepsi commercial advertisement. At the beauty contest of Miss India, she secured the second position and went to World Miss World Pageant, where she was crowned Miss World. Aishwarya Rai made her acting debut in the year 1997 with Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Iruvar. She was also cast in the Bollywood film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya opposite Bobby Deol. Although both films failed to impress the audience, but she received the Screen Award for the best female debut. Film Jeans which was a big-budget Tamil film was a great success.
Aishwarya Rai played the role of a young woman called Madhumita. In the year 1999, she was seen in Aa Ab Laut Chalen. But the film did not work at the box office. She got recognition with the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The film was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. With her role as Nandini, she impressed the audience and this film was a big hit. She bagged the Best Actress award for her role at Filmfare. Her next film Taal further added to her acting career and she was established with this film. Josh and Humara Dil aapke paas hai was her next release and did very well at the box office. Aishwarya Rai also did a supporting actress role in Mohabbatein.
The year 2002-2006 was good for the actress as she received critical recognition with the film Devdas. The film was the highest engrossed film at the International level. Her next few films were Dil ka Rishta, kuch Naa kaho, and Chokher Bali. She has impressed with her role in Chokher Bali. Khakee and Kyu ho gaya na had mixed reviews from the audience. She received International recognition with the British film Bride and Prejudice. Her special appearance in the film Bunty Aur Babli was a big hit song of 2005 ‘Kajra Re’. Aishwarya Rai was next seen in the adventure film Dhoom 2 which worked well at the box office. The year 2007-2010 had up-downs in her acting career. A list of films in which she worked during this period was Guru, Jodhaa-Akbar, Sarkar Raj, The Pink Panther 2, Raavanan, Action replay, and Guzaarish.
