Introduction
Elizabeth Olsen is an American actress. She was born on 16th February 1989. A well-known actress and was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for the best actress and Independent Spirit Award for Best Female lead. She gained recognition for her character of Scarlet in the MCU Media and also starred in many superhero films like Avengers, Captain America, and the miniseries Wanda Vision.
Early Life
Elizabeth was born in Sherman Oaks, California. Her parents Jarnette is a personal manager and David Olsen, is a mortgage banker, and a real estate developer. She is the younger sister of film actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She has an older brother, a younger half-brother, and a younger half-sister. Elizabeth started learning ballet and singing from a very young age. She completed her schooling from kindergarten through grade 12 in Campbell School in North Hollywood, California. After her graduation, she joined New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and Atlantic Theatre Company. She completed a semester at the Moscow Art Theatre School through the MATS program at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center.
Career
Elizabeth started when she was just four years old in Mary-Kate and Ashley's productions. In 2004, she nearly quit acting due to the media agitation related to Mary-Kate's eating disorder. In 2011, she did her comeback and starred in the thriller film Martha Marcy May Marlene for which she was applauded and the film got premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She was nominated for her character, Martha, and won numerous critics’ awards for her performance. She reprised the role of Sarah, in a remake of Silent House. Although the film received mixed reviews her performance was admired. In mid-2011, she filmed Red Lights and also appeared in Liberal Arts.
In January 2013, she co-starred with Josh Brolin in Oldboy which was a remake of a South Korean film and was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. Many of her films got released in 2014 including Kill Your Darlings, In Secret, Godzilla, and Very Good Girls. In 2015, she appeared in the biographical film I Saw the Light starring Tom Hiddleston, in 2017, she starred in the mystery film Wind River along with Jeremy Renner and the comedy film Ingrid Goes West with Aubrey Plaza, both of the films got critic praise. In 2018, she produced and starred in the web television series Sorry for Your Loss. Her performance in the series was commendable and was nominated for the Critics' Choice Television Award. The series was canceled in 2020 after two seasons.
Elizabeth was next seen in Marvel Cinematic Universe and starred in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She reprised the role in Captain America: Civil War as well as the sequels Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter most of which became the second highest-grossing film of all time. She starred alongside Paul Bettany as Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively, in the miniseries Wanda Vision, which premiered on Disney+ in January 2021. She also appeared in the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was released in May 2022.
Personal Life
Elizabeth speaking about herself in regard to atheism mentioned that since age 13 she is an atheist and she believed that "religion should be about community and having a place to go in prayer, not something that should determine women's freedoms. Her name is also included in the brand name of the clothing line "Elizabeth and James" which is launched by her sister. Elizabeth also had many relationships, she and Boyd Holbrook were a couple from 2011 to 2014 and thereafter she was engaged to musician Robbie Arnett in 2019. She won many awards such as the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, the Chicago Film Critics Association, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and many more in different categories.
