Introduction

Shraddha Kapoor is an Indian actress, known to be the daughter of famous Indian actor Shakti Kapoor. She is also a singer and one of the popular followed actresses on social media. She was listed on top 100 Forbes India's Celebrity in the year 2014. This beautiful actress made her entry in Bollywood through the movie Teen Patti and her first movie centering her was Luv Ka The End in the year 2011. Her romantic drama movie Aashiqui 2 in the year 2013 made her a star and the film was a huge successful movie of all the times.

Early Life

Her elder brother is Siddhanth Kapoor. She was raised in Mumbai itself. Her father is Punjabi while her mother belongs to a Marathi family. She once disclosed to media that she was raised as a Marathi child as most of her mother’s relative belonged to Maharashtra. She belongs to a Bollywood background family. Her Aunties Padmini Kolhapuri and Tejaswini Kolhapure is all famous actress and she is also great-niece of Lata Mangeshkar. She has done her schoolings from Jamnabai Narsee School and the American School of Bombay and actress Athiya Shetty and actor Tiger Shroff were her schoolmates. From childhood only, she was acquainted with the filmy atmosphere and used to accompany her father on the shoots. From the beginning itself, she was having interest in acting and she used to perform in front of mirror. She was also enrolled to study psychology in Boston University, but she left the same to make debut in Film Industry through Teen Patti. She got training in singing from her maternal grandfather and mother.

Acting Career

Shraddha Kapoor made her debut in the industry with some of the biggies that includes Mega star Amitabh Bachchan and R. Madhavan in Teen Patti. Although the movie did not do well but her acting was appreciated as a young actress. For this she received nominations for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She then appeared in Luv Ka The End and then signed Aashiqui 2, which was a romantic musical drama film and this was the one which gave her great breakthrough. The movie was highest grossing movie of that time and her performance was outstanding in the film. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Ek Villain, Haider, Ungli, ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, ABCD 2 and Baaghi are some of the films done by the actress.

Year 2016-2017 witnessed commercial struggles in her acting career. Rock On 2, where she was playing a role an introvert singer also did not performed well at box office. In the year 2016-2017, her other projects were OK Jaanu, Half Girlfriend and Haseena Parkar. Her acting career graph meets its heights in the year 2018-2020, when she had many films that were loved by the audience. She was outstanding in comedy horror film Stree (2018) and the movie collected ₹1.7 billion becoming one of the highest grossing movie. Batti Gul Meter Chalu and Saaho were her further release. Movie Saaho was one of the most expensive movie made till now in the Industry and his Hindi version was a commercial success. In 2020 she appeared in Street Dancer 3D and Baaghi 3. 

Apart from movies she also does singing and has performed many stage shows. She is also actively engaged in charity work. She was ranked 7th on the list of Most Desirable Women in 2014 and 2015   by The Times of India.
