Introduction
Yami Gautam is an Indian actress who is mostly seen in Hindi movies, but she has also done great work in many regional languages film industries like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. From Glow & lovely commercials to television serials, her journey to movies has been long. She has also seen in some south movies. With the blockbuster movie Vicky donor, she made a successful debut. Badlapur, Kaabil and Uri: The surgical strike are some of her highest collectors at the box office. She also received the Best Female Debut Award for Vicky Donor.
Early life
Yami Gautam belongs to Himachal Pradesh and she was brought to Chandigarh. Her family is a Hindu Brahmin. She belongs to a family that is not new to the film industry as her father Mukesh Gautam is a Punjabi movie director and her sister Surilie Gautam has made her debut with the Punjabi movie, Power cut. Her mother is Anjali gautam. After school, she pursued law in college. She dreamed to be an IAS, but later her interest grew in acting and thereafter she joined films. She loves reading and listening to music and interior decoration.
Career
At the age of just 20 years, Yami Gautam shifted to Mumbai and she was seen on television in Chand ke paar chalo. After that, she was casted in the lead role in Raajkumar Aaryyan. The most popular role she played in colors TV show Yeh Pyar na hoga kam and also participated in a reality show called Meethi Choori No. 1 and Kitchen Champion Season 1. Romantic comedy-drama “Vicky Donor” by Shoojit Sircar in the year 2012 was her first movie and she was opposite to Ayushmann Khurrana, where she played the role of a Bengali girl who falls in love with Vicky who belongs to a Punjabi family and later she discovered some facts about him. The movie was a hit and she was known as an outstanding star with this. After two years she was once again seen in two movies. One was Total Siyappa and the other was Action Jackson. But both the movie did not do well as her previous ones. Then came action thriller Badlapur, Yami Gautam played the role of the wife of Raghu, played by Dhawan and the movie was regarded as a most engrossed movie by collecting Rs. 770 millions all over world.
The two other romantic movies were signed by her, Sanam Re and Junooniyat. But the movies failed to entertain the audience. In 2017, she was seen opposite to Hritik Roshan in the movie Kaabil. The story was very different as a blind man took revenge for the rape of his blink wife. The movie received a good response and the work of Yami Gautam was appreciated by the audience. Sarkar 3, Batti gul meter chalu, Uri: The surgical strike were some of her films in the later part. Among these, Uri received a huge success and earned Rs. 3.36 billion through worldwide release.
Bala, the next movie that was opposite Ayushmann Khurrana was also a hit and the story and performance was brilliant. The last release of the actress in the year 2020 was Ginny weds sunny with Vikrant Massey. The journey of the actress in the film line is up and down with some great movies and some usual movies. She won Star Debut of the Year – Female (IIFA Awards) for Vicky donor and was also nominated in various categories for the same movie.
