Sanjeev Shrivastava son of a classical dancer, turned into an internet sensation overnight by a video from his Brother-in-laws wedding. He astonished the entire nation with his energetic dance performance on Govinda’s song “Aapke aa jane se” from the 1987 movie “Khudgarz”. Sanjeev not only dances like the great sensation Govinda by also idolises him and is a die-hard fan. Sanjeev belongs to Vidisha Madhya Pradesh and works as an Assistant Professorin the Electronics Department at the Bhabha Engineering Research Institute in Bhopal.
His dancing is been praised by almost everybody throughout the country. The dancing legend Govinda himself has acknowledged his dancing video. After looking at his performance Govinda said, “More than half a dozen heroes have copied my steps, and nobody has done so well.” His stardom is not untouched by Bollywood celebrities. Many celebrities like Arjun kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Anushka Sharma,etc. have tweeted on his incredible moves and political bigwigs such as the Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj [1] Singh Chouhan as well. Sanjeev’s phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since the video went viral. It was reported by news that “Dancing uncle” Sanjeev Shrivastava received 1000 calls within a week of going viral.
Sanjeev in an interview reveals that, “This is an unreal feeling. I can’t believe my dance video has gone viral. I thank everyone for the love and support I have been dancing since 1982 and my idol is Govindaji. Now I hope to get more opportunities.” He believes that whatever happened to him is all magic. As if God or any angel came into his room one night and moved his magic wand and turned his world completely. He quoted that his life has changed for good and he is yet to understand it how everything happened.
Sanjeev is a great example of the power of internet and how it can change someone’s life just over one night. While dancing at his relative’s marriage he would have never thought that soon it will be seen by the entire national, including his own idol Govinda ji. At the age of 47, the “Dancing uncle” is a true inspiration for everybody.
