Saregama, one of the oldest music labels has over lakhs of songs that includes movie songs, ghazals, devotional music and many more in different languages. Now, it has thought to move to be a content creator across movies, music and television in spite of just being a music company.
During the last one year, it has been contributing in music of new films by creating music for films. Total Dhamaal, panga and Ek Ladki ko dekha to aisa laga are some of the examples of the same. The company is also all set to find their niche in the Bhojpuri film music. Yoodle fims, one of the divisions of Saregama is working on a digital release that has licensed 10 films to Netflix and 3 to Hotstar as originals.
On their pre-loaded music device that includes Carvaan too, work of fresh content creation is on. It’s not only just their own podcast content but it has joined with BBC, Anupama Copra and food and travel enthusiasts for creation of about 282 podcast channels. Earlier as Carvaan only had content that was owned by Saregama, but now it offers outside contents also and that to they are regularly updated.
Now, the company has thought of advertising and monetizing its podcasts. Just like ad revenue is shared with content creators in You-tube. Recently it has signed a deal with Facebook and after signing the deal the share price of the company has been increased by 56 %. Now users of Facebook & Instagram can enjoy the music of Saregama. The music label transformation to just an audio product to a vast audio platform will surely take it into new heights.
