Awaited movies starting from Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Bhuj & many others are to put through OTT Platform
Big movies starrer Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia and others will go directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
COVID-19 pandemic has kept movie theatres shut all over the country to avoid spreading of the virus. This has delayed the release of many films and has encouraged the makers of the films to go for various OTT platforms to bring the movies to the audiences. Some of the movies have already been released over OTT platform that includes gulabo sitabo and many others. Now some of much awaited movies that cast some of the big stars are all set to go for OTT platforms. Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Dil Bechara, Bhuj, The Big Bull, Mimi and Lootcase are some of the movies that are to be released on Disney+ Hotstar.
To begin with Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb, it is inspired from the tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani is also playing an important role. Akshay is seen playing the role of a transgender in this horror comedy movie.
Alia Bhatt's Sadak 2 is the comeback movie of Mahesh Bhatt as a director. The movie is the sequel of director 1991 film Sadak that casted Pooja Bhatt. This time the star cast includes Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt.
Ajay Devgn's Bhuj had its story form 1971 Indo Pak war and Ajay Devgan plays Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik. The movie is directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and the star cast includes Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Sharad Kelkar and Nora Fatehi.
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's Dil Bechara, will also go online and will be available free to all the subscribers as a tribute to the young actor. The movie is debut of actress Sanjana Sanghi and the director Mukesh Chhabra.
Abhishek Bachchan's The Big Bull, is about a stockbroker Harshad Mehta, who committed many crimes in the financial sector. Ileana D'Cruz, Sohum Shah and Nikita Dutta are in leading roles. The movie was scheduled to be released on 23rd October, 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kunal Kemmu's Lootcase is made under the direction of Rajesh Krishnan that stars Kunal Kemmu and Rasika Duggal. Earlier also the movie release was postponed multiple times and now it has decided to go for an OTT release.
Kriti Sanon’s Mimi is the Hindi remake of Mala Aai Vhhaychy that was a National Award winning Marathi film. The actress has again tuned with director Laxman Utekar for this film after Luka Chuppi.
Apart from all these movies, the other includes Vidyut Jammwal's Khuda Hafiz, Sunny Kaushal’s Shiddat that are looking for OTT releases.
No doubt the release of major movies at OTT platform has opened many opportunities and has widened the use of streaming services, but on the other hand, it is effecting the theatre industry as well. As theatres are being closed due to Coronavirus pandemic, the theater industry is suffering and they have been speaking against the shift of movies release to OTT platforms. Uday Shankar, chairman of The Walt Disney Company India while speaking on this said that they welcome the shift of movies to the OTT platforms. He was also of the view that even after the opening of theatres, there is less possibility that audience will rush to theatres due to the influence of COVID-19.
The audience is much excited to see these movies of their favorite stars right at their home with their favorite snacks. Let’s see how they will create magic while releasing through OTT platforms.
