Yash Raj Films thanked the judiciary for allowing the release of 'Maharaj'
Maharaj, the debut film of Junaid Khan gets released after lift of stay order.
Maharaj, Hindi Film which also marks the debut of Aamir Khan's son Junaid is made under Yash Raj Films (YRF). A stay was put on the release of the film by the Gujarat High Court. However, the interim stay was been lifted by the court and the Yash Raj Films has tanked and expressed gratitude to the judiciary for this. The film is a period drama that relates to the pre-independent era and is based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Siddharth P Malhotra who also directed the film Hichki.
The Gujarat High Court while releasing the stay order mentioned that the film did not target the Vaishnav Pushtimarg. The court dismissed the filed petition against the release of the film, claiming that it hurts religious sentiments. The court after watching the film stated that there is nothing objectionable and derogatory. The film is now streaming on OTT platform Netflix.
YRF expressed gratitude through their social media handle mentioning that the film is a tribute to Karsandas Mulji, the greatest social reformer of India. They are thankful for allowing the release of the film as the film is all about celebrating the important social reformers of the country. Karsandas worked for righteousness, women's rights and protection and safeguarding community and faith. The film is about celebrating his strong fighting spirit and his courage to fight for the right thing.
Yash Raj Films is a very old production house and it has over 50 years of legacy which depicts Indian stories, people, culture and heritage. The production house also clarified that they never produced a film that has hampered the reputation of our country or our countrymen. They have also urged the people to watch the film and join in saluting Karsandas. The film has showcased the story from all aspects.
