The story was based on the relationship of Director Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi. She portrayed the role of Parveen Babi and her performance was greatly appreciated. Even though she received positive reviews for her acting, the movie failed to do well at the box office. Her further movies were Shakalaka Boom Boom, Life in a... Metro, Dhaam Dhoom and Fashion. Among these Fashion was the most remarkable movie in her career and this was a commercial successful movie earning Rs. 600 million worldwide.

At this point, it was noted that the actress needed a change in image as the earlier one is becoming a stereotype. Vaada Raha & Telugu film Ek Niranjan did not do well. ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ proved to be a big blockbuster. Then came ‘Tanu weds Manu’ and it completely gave a hike to her in her acting career. Game, Double Dhamaal, Rascals, and Miley Naa Miley Hum were some released in the year 2011. She was also seen in Krrish 3 and it was the highest engrossing movie of that time.
