Soorarai Pottru has not only landed in people's heart but also take off for the Oscar
Suriya's film Soorarai Pottru may compete for the Oscar if all is well in screening.
Tamil movie, Soorarai Pottru has included in the 93rd Oscar,2021 in the general category of the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and many other categories. But, this race is not very easy as it seems it is a bit complex.
Before competing with other films for the Oscar, Soorarai Pottru needs to go through several rounds. The first round is to get maximum sites from the member in the Academy Screening Room. This is a paid service with the fee $12,500 where filmmakers from all over the world can submit their projects for screening.
After qualifying from this round, a film will go for other rounds to come in the nominees' list.
Still being selected for the Oscar is also a great achievement. This news is broken by the film's co-producer Rajsekar Pandian who wrote on Twitter about the joining of the film in the Oscar and its screening.
Soorarai Pottru is based on the dream of Captain Gopinath to make the common man fly for one rupee for which he dedicated his life and founded the budget airline Air Deccan. In the film, Suriya played the role of Nedumaran Rajangam who starts a budget airline for people of all financial group.
This film is released on OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video on November 12 last year and it was the first Tamil film release on this platform in the pandemic
Soorarai Pottru is directed by Sudha Kongara. The main cast includes Suriya, Aparna Balamurli, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Mohan Babu and Karunas.
The 93rd Oscars will be held on April 25 and nominations will be started on March 15.
